Fish Wars: Taking Stock of The South China Sea

On November 3, The Royal Geographical Society will bring Dr William Cheung and Professor R Sumailato to the lecture “Fish Wars: Taking Stock of The South China Sea” at the Ming Hua College, Glenealy, Central, at 7 p.m. This is followed by a screening of the short film Saving our Tuna. In this lecture, Dr Cheung and Professor Sumaila will describe the results of their studies of the “wars” for the fish resources of the South China Sea. They will discuss the status of marine ecosystems, the threats to the traditional fishing industries in the region, and review the major strategic implications for the countries surrounding the sea.
