Doug is the Founder and Managing Director of Ocean Recovery Alliance, which is focused on bringing innovative solutions, technology, collaborations and policy together to impact positive improvements for the health of the ocean. In 2018 he received the Prince’s Award for Innovative Philanthropy from Prince Albert of Monaco, and has been recognized as a UN Climate Hero and a Google Earth Hero for his efforts. Ocean Recovery Alliance is one of the first NGOs to be working with both the United Nations Environment (UNEP) and the World Bank. Two global preventative projects on the issues of plastic waste were announced at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2010: the Plastic Disclosure Project, and the Global Alert platform.
He is the founder of the Plasticity Forum, first launched in Rio de Janeiro at the Rio+20 Earth Summit, and has since been held in Hong Kong, New York, Portugal, Shanghai, London, Dallas, Los Angeles, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur, Fiji, Amsterdam and Bangkok with the UN's Sea of Solutions Week in November 2019. The event is unique globally, and focuses on the future of plastic, and where the leaders are going with design, innovation, materials, recycling and solutions, for a world with a reduced waste footprint. He is the founder of the Water Falling and Rising Festivals in Cambodia, Kids Ocean Day Hong Kong, as well as the Grate Art project, which puts Art for Awareness on city streets in Hong Kong to remind people not to dump into storm drains, as they lead to the sea. He is a sought after speaker at events on plastic pollution, ocean and environmental related topics.
Doug has worked in Asia for over 30 years in a number of industries at the forefront of technology within their sectors, mainly related to the environment and new media platforms. He also spent four years in the asset management industry and set up the framework for a Global Environmental Technology fund in 1998 with Merrill Lynch.
Doug is a competitive swimmer and outrigger paddler, and was inducted into the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in 2019 for his contributions to the sport. Born in Northern California, he has a dual masters degree from The Wharton School (MBA) and Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and an undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley. Douglas Woodring
Evan grew up outside Boston and spent over two decades in banking and investment management in New York, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. He currently works on the MBA admissions staff of Berkeley Haas, runs his own college counseling practice, and volunteers at Bay Area public high schools helping first-generation students apply to colleges. He earned a B.A. in Economics from Georgetown University and an MBA from The Wharton School.
A former triathlete who has completed two full Ironman events, Evan is a strong supporter of organizations that continuously fight to have clean bodies of water and trash-free roads, trails and parks.
Evan Ho
Antony is the CEO & Founder of AK Partners Hong Kong, and the Director of AK Asset Management Korea. He has lived in HK for over 24 years. Before establishing AK Partners, he was with a leading local hedge fund and developed its Korean business. He has over 30 years of experience in the Asian finance industry including 7 years with Morgan Stanley in Tokyo and London dealing exclusively with Japanese clients. He is a keen sportsman having completed numerous marathons and held the Veterans record with his team in the HK Trailwalker for 4 years. He is a member of the Oxfam HKTW Advisory Committee. Many years of dragon boating led him to outrigging; he is Chairman of the HK Outrigger Canoe Club. Antony holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Auckland following school at Eton College in England. He is a citizen of the UK and New Zealand. Antony Wood
Germán is an Attorney at Law and a Journalist. His curiosity about the world is clearly related to the desire to know. The “love of learning” is the driving force of Germán's life. He is the founder and Director of BRIGHT Hong Kong, a think-tank that gathers diplomats, scholars, politicians and businessman with expertise in different areas of knowledge. A fundamental part of the efforts made by this group consists on the study of alternatives to overcome the conflict between economic growth, biodiversity and enviromental conservation.
Germán is also Director at the Board of The Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC), an influential independent business association founded in 1967 with the objective of facilitating business in the Asia-Pacific region. Between 2013 and 2015, Germán was also the Chairman of The Mexican Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, the only Latin-American chamber of commerce in Hong Kong and China. He is a graduate lawyer from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He is a specialist in Constitutional and Comparative Law. His work as attorney included draft laws in Mexico when he was appointed as legal advisor at the Presidency of the Republic. He was also Chief Advisor of the Head Officer of Energy Policy at the Mexican Ministry of Energy, where he worked with a team of specialists who organized special agendas across the oil and gas industries.
He is a lover of the ocean and the life of the sea, and has been a diver for over 30 years. During this time he has visited the waters of almost every continent, and can testify to some of the drastic changes that threaten the planet's greatest treasure: the sea. German Munoz
Greg currently runs GC Growth Advisors, LLC, providing operational advisory services and strategic consulting for growth companies. Most recently Greg was President & CEO of Beatport, the world’s leading platform for electronic music. He was responsible for overseeing the global operations of the Beatport platform, consisting of the Beatport music download store, the Beatport streaming music service, Beatport News, and video livestreaming service Beatport Live. Prior to Beatport he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of SFX Entertainment (NASDQ SFXE), then the largest producer of live events dedicated to electronic music.
Prior to joining SFX, Greg was a member of the founding management team and President/COO of Viggle, Inc. (NASDQ VGGL), a leading marketing and entertainment rewards platform, from 2011-2015. From August 2006 to February 2010 he served in a variety of roles at Business Development, where he oversaw the company’s new business initiatives including online affiliate sales and marketing, online sponsorships, advertising sales, third party alliances, resale sponsorships and the creation and management of new revenue streams beyond ticketing.
Previously Greg served over 7 years in a variety of business development and operational roles at America Online Inc.’s International Division – overseeing new market development and substantially expanding AOL’s global footprint – including several years as Managing Director and SVP International Operations Asia based in Hong Kong. Greg’s earlier career included new market development strategy work for a consultancy he co-founded as well as work in government relations for Nortel and accounting and consulting at KPMG. Greg holds an MA in International Affairs from the School of International Service at American University and a BA in Government and English from Clark University.
Greg Consiglio
Jill is the Founder and President of W2Worth Innovations – an organization that seeks to catalyze the use of solid waste as a resource as a means for mitigating the larger social, economic and environmental impacts caused by solid waste. She began this recent adventure upon retirement from a successful 24 year career at Procter and Gamble (P&G). Over her career at P&G, Jill managed Product Development activities for several of P&G’s businesses, in categories ranging from Personal Health Care to Paper Products. Her time with P&G included a seven year stint in Caracas, Venezuela, giving Jill firsthand knowledge of social/economic issues important to emerging regions.
Jill was well known within P&G for her specialty in developing and managing Disruptive Innovation portfolios. One of the projects emerging from this work was P&G’s “Waste to Worth” program. This program supported P&G’s long term environmental sustainability vision of having zero consumer waste entering landfills. It specifically focused on addressing the growing issue of solid waste management in emerging markets through economic development and innovation. Through this project, Jill has emerged as a leader in the field, specializing in objective evaluation of emerging technology and managing integration of technologies in this space. Jill Boughton
James is an Associate Professor at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California at San Diego. He is a biological oceanographer in the Biology Section of Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California at San Diego. His research is focused on biological and physical connections in coastal ocean ecosystems, the roles of internal waves for nutrient dynamics and ecological patterns, and human impacts and marine reserve design.
He has served as Faculty Advisor for the Scripps Environmental Accumulation of Plastics investigation in the North Pacific Gyre in 2009. In addition to pure research and dissemination of results through peer-reviewed publications, he is interested in public outreach and opportunities that involve a broad cross section of stakeholders to bring about innovative solutions to large scale environmental problems. Dr. James Leichter, Ph.D
Phil is the Science Liaison for Coast Guard PACAREA, coordinating science issues for the United States Coast Guard in the Pacific Ocean in conjunction with Coast Guard Headquarters and the Coast Guard Research & Development Center. His responsibilities include the management of science that is conducted using Coast Guard aircraft, buoytenders and other assets, as well as high latitude science conducted on icebreakers managed by the Coast Guard. He previously worked in the Office of Secretary of Defense after a post-doc at NOAA in Monterey, California, through a joint appointment with the Naval Postgraduate School, and an earlier post-doc at the Marine Science Institute of the University of California, Santa Barbara. His 1988 doctorate in Ecology from the University of Georgia on biogeochemical fluxes at fronts along the Gulf Stream followed three years employment at the NOAA Atlantic Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) in Miami, Florida. His experience includes two years at sea on research vessels and submersibles.
Dr. Phil McGillivary

Aymar has been an amateur sailor for the past 30 years and his exposure to plastic pollution has motivated him to help Ocean Recovery Alliance’s programs and global quest to reduce plastic pollution in our waters.
Living in Brazil, he joined the Halgo.io business in order to bring his knowledge in innovation, IA, deep data analytics, behavioral finance, and investment ideas to contribute to the construction of this new medium in the making. He is skilled in risk analysis of financial markets, and created and co-managed the "FR Networld" Mutual Fund in 1997, the first European investment fund entirely invested in listed securities deriving the majority of their income from the Internet. The success motivated him to create the "Monument Euronet Fund", the first US investment fund investing in European " Internet " companies whose turnover also comes mainly from the Internet sector.
In 2007 he started to focus on "green technologies" linked to the production of "clean" energy from biomasses resources, and continues to use his network and knowledge in this space to advance improvements for the health of the ocean. He has a degree in Economic and Social Sciences in Geneva (1991), and graduated from Ecole Supérieure de Gestion (Management Business School) in Financial Markets.
Aymar Vernes

Vik is Director of Materials with New Balance, responsible for the company’s material sourcing operations in Asia. He is a sportswear veteran, having worked in key roles with iconic brands in the industry. Vik’s focus at New Balance is on developing sourcing strategies that demonstrate a commitment to local communities, stewardship of the environment, and scaling up responsible sourcing practices through profitable sustainability. This experience and knowledge has drawn Vik to Ocean Recovery Alliance’s work in Cambodia and the region, and we are pleased to have his enthusiasm and energy as an advisor in our programs.
Vik has lived on both coasts in the US, spending several years in Boston and Portland. He has headed projects in South America, and overseas assignments covering Indonesia, Taiwan, Vietnam, China, South Korea and Thailand. He currently lives in Hong Kong, New Balance’s operational hub in Asia.
